Ron Johnson BAD for Wisconsin

Just when I think that the right wing could not possibly say anything more stupid than I’ve all ready heard, one of them tops it all. Ron Johnson, the Republican candidate for Wisconsin Senator, said the following:  “”I absolutely do not believe in the science of man-caused climate change,” Johnson said. “It’s not proven by any stretch of the imagination.”

Johnson, in an interview last month, described believers in manmade causes of climate change as “crazy” and the theory as “lunacy.”

“It’s far more likely that it’s just sunspot activity or just something in the geologic eons of time,” he said.”  Read the entire article here.

Seriously?

What is this guy smoking?  The truth is that we haven’t caused global warming, but what we do to the environment affects the environment.  Nature did not ruin the ozone layer.  Nature hasn’t spilled millions of oil in our oceans.  Nature has dumped so much junk in our lakes and streams that our fish are loaded with mercury.

We’re slowly killing life on this planet – not just animal life – our life.  As George Carlin once said, “The earth is going to shake us off like a bad case of the fleas.”

Maybe, if I didn’t have my wonderful grandsons, I wouldn’t care about the environment.  I wouldn’t care if a obvious jerk like Ron Johnson got into office.  But, I do care.

I suggest that you read the whole article.  After reading Johnson’s extremist views, there is no way you could actually vote for him.

  1. I find it hard to believe that this journal entry escaped any sort of self-editing. You quote Johnson’s views on anthropogenic climate change, agree with those views… then express the opinion that the views which you agree with are proof that the man is delusional. You then meander off on a tangent which has nothing whatsoever to do with either anthropogenic climate change or any of the views expressed by Johnson in the article you cited and conclude, without once bringing up anything that Johnson said with which you disagree, that the man is bonkers and a bad choice for Wisconsin. I know this is a blog and only your opinions and what not but seriously Julie… isn’t your opinion important enough to express it clearly and logically?
