Dancing With The Stars

ABC’s Dancing With The Stars announced it’s line up of stars today. Lined up are David Hasselhoff, Florence Henderson, Kurt Warner, Margaret Cho, Jennifer Grey, Rick Fox, Michael Bolton, Kyle Massey, Brandy Norwood, Audrina Patridge and two others.

What were their names again?

Oh, yeah, Mike Sorrentino and Bristol Palin.

Yes, you read that right. Somehow, the guy they call “The Situation” from that ridiculous reality show The Jersey Shore is considered a star. A FREAKING STAR! Really? Really?

Why do we watch these train wrecks on reality shows? I saw a grand total of 30 seconds of that show and I lost ten IQ points. We have truly gone nuts in this country when we – not only watch these train wrecks – but allow them “star” status.

Burt Reynolds is a star. Marlon Brando was a star. Frank Sinatra. Rosemary Clooney. Sammy Davis, Jr. George Clooney. Demi Moore. Ashley Judd.

Those are stars – very good stars in fact.

I can see David Hasselhoff and Florence Henderson, but why does ABC have to stoop so low to include “The Situation”?

And, I have made a point in the past of not picking on Bristol Palin. I don’t believe in including celebrities’ children in political discussions, but this isn’t a political discussion. And, by signing up to be on this show (and being over 18), she leaves herself up to this.

Since when is Bristol Palin a star? What has she ever done to be granted that? She’s waved at the crowds, but not much else. How could DWTS consider Bristol a “star”?

Maybe, I could talk my mom into running for Vice President, so I could wave at crowds and appear on DWTS.

I think we’re really lowing our standards in this country. Glad I have better things to do with my time then watch DWTS. I really hope you do, too.

Gainful Employment

If you have read the proposal from the Department of Education that will make it harder for students to obtain financial aid at for profit colleges and universities, you need to click the below link.  You need to tell the Department of Education that this is bad for those students who find it harder to obtain a college education through normal channels.  Not all of us were blessed to be able to attend college right out of high school.  Some of us had to work our way through school and if you’re thinking that I am one of those people, you’re right.  I was told by my mother that I was on my own when it came to college.  It took me 22 years, $23,000 in student loans, a lot of blood, sweat and tears; but, finally, I graduated with a degree in Business Administration with a minor in Computer Science.  My salary in just the last 14 years has risen 361% (if my math is correct).  I’ve gone from paying next to nothing in federal income taxes to, this year, paying $9,000.  I no longer live in a one bedroom apartment.  I own a two bedroom home.  And, I’ve paid off that $23,000 student loan.

And, it is all because of my college education and the hard work I’ve put in.  Please don’t let others like me fall by the wayside and not be able to obtain their dream of graduating college.  Click on the link below and tell the Department of Education to cease and desist.

There’s a million potential college graduates depending on you.

Dumb Animals

Anyone who thinks that animals – both wild and domesticated – cannot show compasion and love won’t think this after viewing this slideshow I found on the TODAY site.

Enjoy!

Ron Johnson BAD for Wisconsin

Just when I think that the right wing could not possibly say anything more stupid than I’ve all ready heard, one of them tops it all. Ron Johnson, the Republican candidate for Wisconsin Senator, said the following:  “”I absolutely do not believe in the science of man-caused climate change,” Johnson said. “It’s not proven by any stretch of the imagination.”

Johnson, in an interview last month, described believers in manmade causes of climate change as “crazy” and the theory as “lunacy.”

“It’s far more likely that it’s just sunspot activity or just something in the geologic eons of time,” he said.”  Read the entire article here.

Seriously?

What is this guy smoking?  The truth is that we haven’t caused global warming, but what we do to the environment affects the environment.  Nature did not ruin the ozone layer.  Nature hasn’t spilled millions of oil in our oceans.  Nature has dumped so much junk in our lakes and streams that our fish are loaded with mercury.

We’re slowly killing life on this planet – not just animal life – our life.  As George Carlin once said, “The earth is going to shake us off like a bad case of the fleas.”

Maybe, if I didn’t have my wonderful grandsons, I wouldn’t care about the environment.  I wouldn’t care if a obvious jerk like Ron Johnson got into office.  But, I do care.

I suggest that you read the whole article.  After reading Johnson’s extremist views, there is no way you could actually vote for him.

Video Re-Run – We don’t hire straight while males

In case you missed it.

Video Re-Run – Tax Breaks for the Wealthy

In case you missed it the first time around, I’m re-running it here.

My wife said if I don’t get her another beer, she’s going to slap my face.

The guys over at Cadaver and Treacle have found yet another funny, funny video!  If you’re up this late, it won’t kill you to hop on over there and check it out…I’m posting this one on facebook!  Where do these guys find this stuff?

Also, one thought on the video, real life is way funnier than anything on TV.

Anti-gay People full of crap…

I’m reading an article on the gay marriage ruling in California and this absolute jerk states the following:  “It’s a really sad day for Californians, for families, for our future and for voters that a federal judge has trampled on the civil rights of voters,” said Luke Otterstad, 24, of Sacramento.

Really?  A Federal Judge has trampled on YOUR freaking civil rights?  Hey, moron, how about how sad it was in this country when the jerks in California voted to trample on the rights of tax paying, American Citizens by stopping gay marriages?

What about the trampling on my rights when Wisconsin voted for the anti-gay amendment to my STATE’S constituion?  Did you ever stop to think about the rights of others?

No, you don’t.  You and the others like you are mindless jerks who don’t give a rat’s ass about the freedoms granted to ALL citizens in the United States of America?

And, if you think I’m being too harsh – kiss my lily white ass.  I don’t plan on being nice to these people anymore.  These are the kinds of people who raise children that grow up to gather in a group and attack a lone gay man or lesbian.  These are the kinds of people who think they have a RIGHT to tell other people how to live their lives.  These are kinds of people who spit every single day on our Constitution and then have the nerve to say I don’t love America.

Food Dude

Have you seen this website:  My Life As A Foodie?  I just found it this weekend while surfing the web.  If you like food and you like to cook, you need to check out this site.  He breaks it all down in simple step by step instructions that even a child could follow.  I am definitely going to try his chicken wing recipe and when I get back from my trip next week, I’m going to make some homemade bacon.

Google Captures “Dead” Body in Street View

I didn’t know what to write about today.  I have a lot on my mind.  But, a co-worker passed this story along, so I thought I’d pass it on to you, my gentle readers.
